Training

 

 

The purpose of the project is to contribute to the enhancement of the capacity of existing institutions, involved in groundwater research and management in the basin states, to undertake more integrated, multi-disciplinary and sustainable approaches to groundwater governance.

Target participants

 

The target participants of the training and research component of the project are managers, practitioners and researchers from key groundwater institutions: nodal government institutions and agencies, non-governmental organizations/ aid agencies/ extension agencies working in the water sector, research institutions and universities, and media professionals from the five project countries, India, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal. Only applicants from these countries will be eligible for course participation.

Three categories of participants or fellows are identified:

 

  • Young Practitioner Research Fellows (YPRF) - young groundwater manager or a researcher below the age of 40 years (about 30 fellows) 
  • Senior Practitioner Research Fellows (SPRF) - senior groundwater manager/ policy maker working at top policy making level in key groundwater organisations (5-7 fellows) 
  • Media Fellows (MF) - young journalist/ media professional with proven interest in environmental issues ( 5 fellows)

Second Training Course

 

The second "Training and Research Course on Groundwater Governance in Theory and Practice" will  commence in November 2007.
